My fiancé and I came in here for dinner on 12/26/2025. The food was incredible. She got the yakiniku, it was a little spicy but savory. I got the katsudon, the flavor was really good but wasn’t spicy for me so I had to add some spicy flakes and it made it much better. We also got gyoza and salmon onigiri to go and really loved it as well. I’ve come here a few times and really enjoy it everytime. The atmosphere has a hint of Japanese culture but I think they could do more because the food is good and the atmosphere would take it to the next level

I've discovered my new favorite Japanese restaurant! They offer a wide variety of dishes, many of which I've never tried before. From tiny fish to fluke, there are so many unique options. They even serve an interesting pre-dinner snack made of mushrooms and seaweed. If you want a memorable experience, I highly recommend trying something you've never had before!

Genuinely so amazing. I have never had such great service and accommodation. There was a rude customer there and they were nothing but incredibly kind to him, he ended leaving with a smile and even when I couldn't pronounce or find an item on the menu they never made me feel like less than and were very helpful. The food was presented so beautifully and the atmosphere was so calm that i could fully converse through whispers and still be heard. Overall it was so wonderful and i will be going back.

My family and I enjoyed Matsuya very much. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere felt like you were in a small town in Japan. We would eat here again if we traveled to KY again, the food is so authentic!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This place is AMAZING!! I love the cozy atmosphere and how authentic it feels—just like a traditional Japanese restaurant. The food was all freshly made and absolutely delicious! I’ve only been to a few truly authentic Japanese restaurants like this in my life, and this one definitely stands out. There are amazing lunch specials! They come with Sushi or another type of main dish and a Mizo soup and salad as well! They also serve REAL ramen soup! That’s what I went for but ended up on freshly made sushi from the bar. Ohh can’t forget to mention how wonderfully extensive the wine list is! The inside and how spacious it is honestly surprised me compared to what it looks like from the outside. The service was excellent as well. Big thank-you to the waiter on Saturday afternoon for being so kind and patient with my loud, wild toddler, and my husband we will definitely be back! Thank you all for a wonderful lunch!

I had the tendon domburi and my dining partner had the miso ramen. The miso ramen came with miso soup and a salad. The domburi came with miso soup. All our food was delicious and the service was very attentive and kind. I had questions and our server answered them completely. I’ve been here quite a few times and it never disappoints.
